Teledyne FLIR has announced the launch of its latest industrial acoustic camera, the FLIR Si1-LD, designed to detect and measure compressed air leaks with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the FLIR Si124-LD Plus, the new Si1-LD offers improved detection capabilities and a higher upper frequency range, making it an essential tool for industrial maintenance and energy efficiency programs.

The FLIR Si1-LD utilizes advanced ultrasonic technology to identify even the smallest leaks in compressed air and vacuum systems, which can account for 25–30% of total air loss in industrial facilities. Left undetected, these leaks lead to increased energy costs, unexpected downtime, and reduced equipment lifespan.

Key Features of the FLIR Si1-LD:

  • 96-Microphone Array (2–100kHz): Enables automatic leak detection from distances of up to 130 meters, with precise localization and measurement.
  • High-Resolution Imaging: A 12-megapixel color camera with 8x digital zoom and LED lighting provides detailed visual documentation of leak points.
  • AI-Powered Bandwidth Filtering: Automatically eliminates interference from non-relevant ultrasonic sources, reducing the need for manual adjustments.
  • Real-Time Leak Quantification: Displays leak volume flow rate and estimated annual cost savings directly on the device, helping prioritize repairs.
  • Ergonomic and User-Friendly: Lightweight, compact, and operable with one hand, requiring minimal training for effective use.
  • Seamless Reporting: Wireless data transfer to FLIR Acoustic Viewer or FLIR Thermal Studio software for streamlined reporting and analysis.

Darrell Taylor, Global Business Development Director for FLIR’s Acoustic Solutions, emphasized the economic impact of air leaks: “Compressed air leaks are a silent drain on industrial efficiency, driving up operational costs and reducing profitability. The FLIR Si1-LD empowers maintenance teams to quickly locate and quantify leaks, enabling proactive repairs that enhance sustainability and reduce waste.”

The FLIR Si1-LD comes with two batteries, a charging dock, a neck strap, a hard carrying case, and free access to FLIR’s acoustic analysis software. An optional data transfer cable is also available for facilities with restricted Wi-Fi use.

With its combination of high sensitivity (0.01L/min at 2.5m), AI-enhanced filtering, and real-time cost analysis, the FLIR Si1-LD sets a new benchmark for industrial leak detection, helping manufacturers optimize energy use and reduce maintenance expenses.
