Toyota Unveils FT-Me, a New Micromobility Concept for Europe
FT-Me’s combination of design simplicity and solar roof makes it an affordable, hassle-free entry to all-electric vehicles
Toyota FT-Me Concept, a compact battery electric vehicle designed to tackle the challenges of evolving urban environments

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has unveiled the FT-Me, an innovative all-electric micromobility concept designed to combine premium design with affordability. Inspired by Toyota’s successful mobility solutions developed for the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FT-Me aims to address the evolving needs of city dwellers and the challenges of modern urban environments.
The FT-Me is a compact yet spacious 2-seater vehicle, measuring less than two and a half metres in length. Its design prioritises manoeuvrability, occupying only half a standard parking space—or even one-third when perpendicular parking is available. The vehicle’s styling, inspired by a jet helmet, features a contrasting black-and-white bi-tone design that conveys safety, robustness, and a lightweight, go-anywhere attitude.
The FT-Me is designed to be accessible to a wide range of users, including those with entry-level driving licences, such as individuals as young as 14 years old in some markets. Its enhanced versatility caters to diverse user needs, offering customisable options for both teenagers and professionals. An innovative 360-degree visibility concept ensures maximum eye contact with other road users, enhancing safety and manoeuvrability. The vehicle also features advanced connectivity, enabling seamless smartphone integration for keyless entry and service provision. Additionally, the FT-Me can be operated solely by hand commands via its innovative steering wheel, making it accessible to wheelchair users without requiring aftermarket modifications.

Toyota’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the FT-Me’s design. The vehicle maximises recyclability and incorporates recycled materials, aiming for a 90% reduction in carbon footprint compared to current city vehicles. Its efficient propulsion system consumes three times less energy per kilometre than a high-capacity battery electric car. The FT-Me also features cutting-edge solar panel roof technology, which can charge the main battery and add 20 to 30 km of range per day in urban settings—easily covering daily usage and, depending on weather conditions, eliminating the need to plug in for many users.
The FT-Me concept embodies Toyota’s ‘Mobility for All’ philosophy, catering to younger drivers as well as those looking to downsize in the evolving urban landscape. As cities continue to transform, the FT-Me offers a versatile, sustainable, and stylish solution, marking another step toward creating an inclusive mobility ecosystem for people, goods, and services.
With its innovative design, advanced features, and commitment to sustainability, the FT-Me represents Toyota’s vision for the future of urban mobility in Europe and beyond.
